Local SEO and GEO: showing up in Google and in AI answers
Search no longer stops at Google's first page. Here is how a Swiss SME becomes citable by ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI overviews.
Read the articleTechnical audit, content structure, link building and rank tracking. We treat search as part of the product, not a layer bolted on afterwards.
Producing content on a site search engines struggle to crawl is filling a leaking bucket. We start by clearing the blockers: unindexed pages, redirect chains, duplicate content, missing tags, server response time. This stage is not glamorous, but it often unlocks more traffic than six months of writing.
Trade vocabulary and customer vocabulary almost never match. We work from real queries, with their volume and competition, and favour commercial intent over vanity volume: better to be first on "body shop Nyon quote" than thirtieth on "body shop". Each language gets its own research, never a translation of the French list.
We organise the site into pillar pages and satellite content that link to each other. That structure tells search engines which pages matter, and it concentrates authority instead of diluting it. It is why a well-linked thirty-page site beats a three-hundred-page site with no hierarchy.
In French-speaking Switzerland, most commercial searches are geographic. Google Business Profile, consistent details everywhere, structured data: that is often what appears before your site. And a growing share of searches now ends inside an AI-written answer: being quotable takes dated figures and direct answers, not marketing paraphrase.

Questions
Technical fixes take effect within weeks. Content and authority take three to six months in a low-competition market, and longer for highly competitive searches. Be wary of anyone promising first place in a month.
No, and nobody honestly can: ranking depends on an algorithm we do not control and on competitors who also move. What we commit to is the method, transparency on the work done, and measured reporting.
Not necessarily. The audit decides: if the technical base is sound, we work with it. If the site structurally blocks search engine indexing, we say so and quote both options.
